Todd Howard, Bethesda director, and executive, in a Reddit AMA on Wednesday, answered fans’ questions including when the next gameplay showcase of Starfield will be.
“We prefer to just show it, which should be next summer, we’re happy with the advancements we’ve been able to make, some of which you can see in the trailer shot in-game,” Howard answered whether Starfield will have any groundbreaking innovations. Howard also mentioned that Starfield will support Mods like previous RPGs of the studio.
“Our modding community has been with us for 20 years. We love what they do and hope to see more make a career out of it,” Todd Howard said.
The Bethesda executive also mentioned that Starfield will expand the character creation options and will give even more freedom to players to create an authentic character.
“Really excited about what the team has done with character creation here,” he said. “Including choosing background, skills, etc. You also can pick your pronoun (he, she, they) and we’ve recorded all the relevant dialogue to support that choice.”
The ambitious RPG was first announced in June 2018 and the first in-engine (not gameplay) trailer was shown to fans during the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase earlier this year that confirmed Starfield will come to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 in November 2022. Bethesda also teased a location of Starfield via a trailer to show fans what should they expect from the game.
“In this next-generation role-playing game set amongst the stars, create any character you want and explore with unparalleled freedom,” Bethesda said. “Harnessing the power of next-gen technology and built on the all-new Creation Engine 2, Starfield takes you on a journey through space as you strive to answer humanity’s greatest mystery.”
Bethesda’s next big will be The Elder Scrolls VI which we don’t know anything about. In an interview with IGN, Howard also mentioned that Fallout 5 is also in the studio’s long-term plans.
