AMC confirmed earlier this week that it’s prequel series Better Call Saul would be renewed for a fourth season. While ratings for the show might be lower than expected, another season alway seemed likely, as fans and critics alike have raved about the show each season.
The precursor to Breaking Bad will return in 2018 with its regular format, 10 episodes a season. In a recent statement, AMC’s president Charlie Collier had this to say about the shows renewal announcement.
“Supporting artists we respect and admire; delivering truly outstanding character development and nuanced dramatic twists and turns; continuing a legacy of bold creative choices; loving writing that is the best in the business: Truly, ‘S’all good, man,’” AMC president stated. “Congratulations to Vince, Peter, Bob and everyone involved with Better Call Saul. Bring on season four!”
Better Call Saul recently wrapped its third season with an invigorating final episode that set a lot of things in motion for the events that take place in Breaking Bad. The latest season featured events that further Jimmy’s downward spiral into Saul Goodman, reveal how Hector Salamanca turned out the way he did, displays how Mike Ehrmantraut got into bed with Gus Fring, and so much more.
But there are plenty more unanswered questions that merit another season for Better Call Saul, as the events of the finale will have dire repercussions. It’s likely that the show will follow the same structure season wise as Breaking Bad, ending at five seasons, so expect the same news this time next year unless something drastic happened.
