Beyonce and Solange Knowles’ mama, Tina Knowles, recently appeared on Vogue’s The Run-Through podcast. In it, she discussed several interesting topics, including her daughters and how her second child was conceived (something she is reflecting on decades later because Solange is 37 and Beyonce is 42).
“Solange was conceived on the Nile in Egypt,” she said of her second daughter with Mathew Knowles (via Us Weekly). “I thought I was having a boy, and I wanted to name him Niles. But little did I know, here came this girl.” Of course, she has no plans to have more children now as she is in her 70s and a beautiful mother and grandmother. But she did share how the inspiration behind her daughters’ unique names came about.
“I went to Paris. I bought a baby name book in Paris for my girlfriend, and she was gonna have a baby,” she recalled. “And then the next year, I would end up having a baby, so I pulled that old book out.”
Tina Knowles Reflects On Her Daughters And Their Different Personalities
Tina is a doting mother and has watched her children become superstars, but in her interview with Vogue, she also commented on their different personalities (something which has been touched on before because it is well-known that Beyonce was super shy). “She was very shy, and she got bullied a bit. But the day that she stood up for someone — she didn’t stand up for herself; she stood up for them,” Tina said of Beyonce. “I’m getting emotional talking about it. I was just, I couldn’t have been more proud of her.”
In contrast, her sister Solange has always been outspoken and has been interested in activism, including creating a school petition. “She’s always been an activist,” Tina admitted.
Fans of the famous family will be thrilled to receive a glimpse into their private lives.
