If you thought bodyguards for artists and musicians were unnecessary, Billie Eilish would love to have a word with you. Recently, the singer-songwriter had a concert in Miami, Florida, and a crazed male fan grabbed her out of nowhere and pulled her into the crowd. Thankfully, her security detail was able to yank Billie Eilish back into safety, though the experience has likely left her stressed during the concert.
While performing her third studio album, Hit Me Hard And Soft, on October 9, an unnamed man grabbed Eilish and pulled her into the barricade that was holding back the crowd. Billie Eilish notably fell from being grabbed, and it’s not clear what injury she sustained. Eilish’s security was able to push the male fan away and get the singer back to safety while she was walking past the barricade.
While she doesn’t seem too happy with the incident, the show must go on for Billie Eilish, and the man who grabbed and pulled her was quickly ejected from Miami’s Kaseya Centre, according to the Miami Police Department. Meanwhile, Eilish hasn’t commented on the incident yet or given an update on her health at the time of writing.
Fans, however, were worried for her safety and sympathized with her, given how it’s not the first time someone tried to injure or interrupt her during her performance. Some claimed that they wouldn’t be surprised if Billie Eilish just stopped her tour abruptly for fear of her safety.
Fans were condemning the assault
Additional statements online were quick to condemn the male fan who grabbed and possibly hurt Billie Eilish. “Disgusting behavior. I hope they were arrested, just plain assault,” according to a Reddit user who witnessed another angle of the grab. Some fans on the scene also claimed online that the man was allegedly acting weird and was already drunk during the concert.
“And this is why I 100% understand why some artists refuse to do this type of stuff because this is so scary. People feel entitled to artists even though none of us know them. So traumatizing. I hope sheโs okay!” says another comment, highlighting just how toxic some fans can be especially the ones capable of violence or can’t restrain themselves in the presence of their idol.
In the past, Billie Eilish was similarly assaulted, as back in December 2024, another fan threw what appears to be a bracelet or accessory at her while she was singing on stage. You could say that it’s commendable and brave for Eilish to continue such tours despite this past experience, though it’s not clear how she will react to this recent fan assault, as it seems worse this time.
