Music icon Billy Joel gave his fans quite a show and an even bigger scare during his recent Saturday concert at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Stamford, Connecticut. The 75-year-old Uptown Girl hitmaker played all the fan favorites without a hitch, at least until he got a little too carried away during his performance of Still Rock and Roll.
Billy Joel engaged the crowd, and everyone was into the music, singing along to the classic 80s hit. Joel was giving it all he had. However, the singer suddenly lost his footing, taking a loud and painful fall onto the stage. He landed flat on his back, bringing forth a horrifying gasp from the entire arena.
Footage from the concert reveals Billy Joel spinning his microphone around before hurling it across the stage. The momentum was a bit too much for the aging singer, and it knocked him off balance, causing a horrific stage fall.
Shocked fans watched while Joel’s band members quickly ran to his aid, helping him slowly from the floor. Billy moved slowly and appeared a little unsteady but managed to muster the strength to perform one final song for the crowd before thanking his fans and reportedly hobbling off stage.
Fans Claim Billy Joel Appeared Frail Before The Stage Fall
Following the Billy Joel stage fall, fans stated that something appeared a bit off with the singer before his nasty tumble. Fans soon took to social media, posting videos of the incident and expressing concerns for the aging singer.
“I was really very concerned about him throughout the concert,” one worried fan admits. “He looked frail hobbling across the stage. At one point, he was using the microphone stand as a cane,” claims another.
“Oh my goodness, I hope he is okay. This is so sad to see. At his advanced age, a fall like that can be quite dangerous,” adds one more.
In previous interviews, Billy Joel has addressed getting older. The Piano Man singer claims he has no plans to slow down anytime soon. At least, not for now. He has a full schedule from spring to the fall.
Billy Joel reveals he is currently prepping for an extensive tour. The singer will work his way across the United States during his upcoming stadium tour. Billy’s tour begins on March 29 in Detroit and will wrap up his stint in the U.S. in November.
Fans can expect to see some of Billy Joel’s closest friends join him on stage throughout the tour. The guests will include Stevie Nicks, Sting, and Rod Stewart. Hopefully, Billy’s recent stage fall leaves him injury-free to entertain his fans across the globe. However, moving forward, he may want to take it down a notch or two.
