Following his sudden death months back, the cause of death of General Hospital actor Billy Miller has been determined via an autopsy. The actor, famous for his roles in General Hospital and The Young and the Restless passed away on September 15, 2023. At the time, little about his cause of death came to light. However, until his passing, the icon dealt with manic depression and bipolar disorder. Hence, many attributed his death to suicide given the surrounding circumstances and his history of battling mental health issues.
What is Billy Miller’s Cause of Death?
Autopsy reports obtained from the Travis County Medical Examiner in Texas attributed Billy Miller’s cause of death to “an apparent gunshot wound to the head.” Per the reports, officers found the actor dead in his bathtub upon arrival, with a revolver in his right hand. Additionally, he seemingly left multiple notes which investigators found on the scene. Investigations determined that these notes were indicative of “suicidal intent,” further confirming he pulled the trigger.
The autopsy also revealed high levels of alcohol, up to 0.08% in his bloodstream at the time of death. Additionally, the medical examination detected high doses of cocaine, confirming he was under the influence at the time of his passing. However, these indicators were unlikely to singlehandedly cause Billy Miller’s death.
Notably, aside from his struggles with mental health conditions like bipolar disorder and depression, Billy dealt with substance abuse and addiction during his lifetime. He spent years trying to break free from his addictions, going in and out of rehab in the years leading up to his demise.
Billy’s mom, Patricia, in her tribute, firmly declared that her son “surrendered his life” after losing his battle with his mental health conditions. She ruled any other cause of death listed in connection with her son’s demise as untrue, also urging fans to do the same. With an official confirmation following his post-mortem examination, Billy can truly rest peacefully as the valiant warrior his mom, and loved ones choose to remember him to be.
