A wedding ceremony that recently took place in Boston is going viral on TikTok after the couple decided to take a bold, bizarre, and outright unthinkable route to make their vow exchange memorable for them and their guests. According to details shared by the wedding planning firm @marreroevents, the couple had chosen to say their “I dos” inside a Tesla coil lightning exhibit at the Museum of Science.
Instead of standing beneath flowers or an archway, the bride and groom stood inside a metal cage as bright lightning bolts repeatedly struck around them. The wedding planning firm stated that the pair were both scientists who shared a love for the Tesla coil exhibit and specifically asked for it to be part of their wedding ceremony. The venue, which they had rented for their event, offered the lightning experience as an optional feature for an additional cost, and the couple fully embraced the idea.
A Special Presentation for the Guests
In the footage, the bride and groom are seen holding hands while wearing protective earmuffs, remaining still as bolts of electricity flash above and around them. The firm, which had been the one to share the now-famous clip on their TikTok page, explained in the comments that the couple had been warned in advance about what to expect and were told they might feel heat from the sparks during the demonstration.
“We had it specially arranged,” the planning team wrote in response to one comment. “This lightning show was a special presentation only for their wedding guests.”
While it may appear that only the couple were inside the cage, the firm later clarified that the officiant was also present, standing behind the bride during the ceremony. They added that most of the vows were spoken before the lightning sequence began and that all guests were positioned at a safe distance throughout the event.
How People Are Reacting to the Boston Wedding Ceremony
It is no surprise that the unconventional ceremony drew plenty of reactions on TikTok. Some viewers were clearly stunned by the concept. “This is such a random dream to have,” one person wrote. Another remarked, “What an odd use of free will.” A third commented, “You really never know what people are doing in their lives.”
Some admired what the couple had done, feeling it was actually brilliant. “This is definitely an original experience,” one comment read. Another netizen said, “No, this is so cool, and they’re both scientists. I see the vision.” Someone else added, “Apparently I am not using my free will and imagination to its full potential. This is amazing.”
