Can you smell what The Rock is cooking? Well if you can, it’s probably because his character Black Adam just electrocuted some more people to death. Things have been pretty quiet regarding The Rock’s role in the DCEU so far. We received our first look at Black Adam only a couple of months ago. A very short trailer saw him released from his prison and attacked by soldiers, who he makes quick work of. However, we didn’t even see a full profile shot. The Rock has been drumming up excitement on his own, but today the synopsis for Black Adam was released to the public.
What Does the Film Have In Store for Black Adam?
In a similar trend to Joker or Suicide Squad, the Black Adam synopsis reveals that this movie will be entirely villain-centric. In Shazam, Black Adam is referenced as the first champion of the Council of Wizards, who chooses revenge and releases evil on the world. The movie will delve into how he received his powers and his imprisonment. They were given to him 5000 years ago and based on Egyptian Gods. Now, he feels he can properly dole out his unique form of justice. According to the director, it will be similar to Dirty Harry.
Who Opposes The Rock in This Film?
Seeing as Black Adam is the archenemy of Shazam, you would think Levi is in this movie. However, it’s been confirmed that isn’t the case. Instead, it seems the Justice Society of America is debuting to stop Black Adam instead. A much more minor form of the Justice League, it holds four members. Those members are Atom Smasher, Hawkman, Cyclone, and Doctor Fate. Consequently, Doctor Fate and Hawkman are both well-known members of the Justice League in the DCEU. This may end up being the case if the two teams connect sometime soon. Of course, that all depends on if The Rock doesn’t decimate these DCEU greats.
Black Adam releases in theaters on July 29, 2022. An HBO Max release is expected approximately 45 days later. Are you excited about Black Adam? What about the DCEU in general from here? Leave a comment below!
