A Black influencer from Oregon got a bit of a shock recently during a routine yoga class after one of the students, a middle-aged White woman, barred him from entering. And while the woman didn’t properly explain why she didn’t want Black men in a yoga class, the influencer was notably disturbed by the incident and even went as far as accusing the woman of being racist or racially profiling him.
Slimtuni Mohamed, aka SlimTuni from Portland, Oregon, is the influencer in question, and around March 16, he went to a yoga class with his friend. Sadly, and as you can see from the clip he uploaded, a woman who just finished attending the yoga class slammed the door shut immediately and told SlimTuni “No,” while also saying, “This place is closed.” She then claimed that “I’m just a student here, that’s why it’s closed.”
Despite SlimTuni explaining that they had a class and even rhetorically asking, “Why else would we be here?” it appears the woman was really intent on keeping the two Black men out of an establishment that she doesn’t seem to own. SlimTuni has since titled the clip as his first racial profiling experience, though his friend considered it “that’s racist as [expletive].”
It’s not clear how the confrontation ended as SlimTuni cut the rest of the interaction, though he mentioned in the comment section of his TikTok account that he wasn’t able to attend the yoga class, though it wasn’t clear if it was because of the woman or not. People in the Facebook comment section have since implied that the woman is a “Karen” at the very least for being nosy.
People Online are Calling Out the Woman
Commenters on SlimTuni’s Facebook upload didn’t exactly mince words and have sided with the influencer. Some even questioned the woman’s beliefs, “I’m ‘baffled’ why they never mind their business? She’s a student pretending like she owns the place! Mind your MF business!” rants a Facebook user. Others have also accused her of racism, “They just cant help being like that. . Its in her Gene’s 😅.”
Meanwhile, some people were not exactly satisfied with how they thought SlimTuni dealt with the situation, as many assumed the Black influencer let the casual racial profiling slide. A commenter even recommended escalating, “Nah wth. I would report her.” Another commenter stated SlimTuni’s rights, “Yall soft asf because how yall let her close tha door, especially if yall had an appointment,” something the woman ignored.
