What could’ve been an uneventful overnight shift in a restaurant in San Antonio, Texas, turned ugly for a Hispanic worker. A DoorDash driver who happened to be Black supposedly grew irate at her and began throwing insults and threats, such as calling the Latina woman an illegal. The Hispanic worker has since called the cops, only to find out that they don’t care about this kind of hate crime.
The incident took place around mid-September in a restaurant in San Antonio, Texas. The Hispanic woman filming the video was among the two people working that night shift. The Hispanic woman then noticed that a Black woman was waiting in the parking lot and told her to come inside if she was waiting on an order, as she claimed to be a DoorDasher.
“Mind you I saw someone Parked in a pick up order but we don’t have anything online I went out to ask the person if she was waiting on something… she said she was doordash I said you need to come inside she stated she talked to a women on the phone I’m the only women on duty tonight and I never answered it I still stated mama you need to come inside or either wait,” according to the Hispanic woman.
It appears this protocol annoyed the DoorDash driver, and she went in and started calling the Hispanic woman an “illegal,” among other insults. “Once she decide to come inside she called me a f***ing illegal why ? Cause of the color of my skin!!!” fumed the Hispanic woman.
The Hispanic woman had had enough after the exchange shown in the video and even called the San Antonio police, but to her surprise, the cops got angry and didn’t seem to do anything about the DoorDasher’s actions.
People Online Were Condemning the DoorDasher
It’s not the first time a Black person has acted in a racist manner towards someone of Hispanic descent or brown skin color in the US. A few months ago, one of them even threatened to call ICE after profiling a Hispanic woman in a shopping center. That kind of Karen was thus condemned online even by Black people, and the same has happened to the DoorDash driver in the footage above.
“It’s sad to see a black person now profiling other races too,” laments an Instagram user, pointing out just how ironic and hurtful it is, especially in light of recent ICE arrests. “African American here, I got love for my Hispanic brothas and sistas, she’s a joke,” claims an allegedly Black Instagram user in the comment section.
Others were worried about the absurdity of the situation, especially in times when people need to look out for each other, “Omg this exactly what they want. People of color fighting each other. Door dasher get some sense . That’s so sad” claims one commenter, while another commenter questions, “Why are we attacking each other now? Please no. There’s no need for this”, which is something many people online agreed with, thankfully.
