Stories of racial bias across the country are often shared and debated on social media, and one recent account is drawing wide attention for how a customer says she was treated. It centers on a Black woman who claims she experienced blatant discrimination while trying to eat at Meet Me Here Restaurant and Bar in Middlebury, Connecticut.
In a TikTok video, she explained that when she first walked in, an employee briefly said, “It’s gonna be a minute,” and then walked off without offering a menu or even a hello. Hoping to order food for herself and her son, she waited. Within minutes, she watched the same employee warmly welcome two white customers and allowed them to sit immediately.
The Black customer added that despite making eye contact with the employee multiple times, the latter never came back to assist her. She even left the restaurant briefly but went back to see if they would attend to her and still they didn’t. Frustrated, she said, “Because I’m not white enough to eat in their restaurant. So I’ll take my money elsewhere.”

Several people in the comments showed support for the Black customer and shared outrage over the way she was treated. “😭 I’m so sorry ya having to deal with the racism,” a netizen wrote. “Glad you walked out – spend your money where it’s appreciated,” another person commented. A third said, “Thank you. I will NEVER go there,” while someone else suggested, “I think you should call the owner she’s just an employee.”

Another joked, “Not me finding South African names in the reviews and I know damn well they are nowhere near Connecticut 😂😂😂 I just left mine as well.” Someone else added, “I live in the Bahamas and I’m leaving a negative review 🙃🙃.”
