Blake Lively revealed that she will not be attending the 2023 Met Gala. The Simple Favor actress has graced the infamous red carpet several times but will skip it this year. At first, it sounded hard to believe, but the TV star confirmed this to be true on Thursday. Lively said this during her time with reporters and added that the show would have to take place without her presence.
Lively Is Skipping the 2023 Met Gala
During the grand re-opening of the Tiffany & Co. Fifth Avenue in New York City, Blake Lively confirmed to People that she wouldn’t be physically present at this year’s Met Gala. The interviewer asked her if her fans would see her at the annual biggest night in fashion. Lively replied, saying that she would be watching.
Even the reporter was shocked and reacted to it by doing a double take and asking, “You will not,” and she confirmed once more that she would not be present. They went further to congratulate her on her choice of outfit for the 2022 Met Gala. Lively hilariously replied, “Thank you, that’s very sweet. I will be wearing that on my couch on Monday.”
The 35-year-old is known for killing every show she is cast in. As always, she wore a stunning outfit for Thursday’s event. The outfit was a leather-like brown belted midi dress with a plunging neckline. She complimented the outfit with strappy heels and gold jewelry. Her hair was styled loosely in voluminous curls as she graced the event.
Lively Has Always Been A Gala Staple
From the very first event, Lively has always attended the Met Gala. On several occasions, she appeared at the event with her husband, Ryan Reynolds. The 2014 Costume Gala was the first time the duo appeared as a couple at the event.
Each time she attended the Met ball, the It Ends With Us star always made an imprint with her fashion styles. She has donned looks from high-end designer labels such as Versace, Chanel, Gucci, Burberry, and the likes of them. In 2022, she looked exquisite in her outfit alongside her husband as they served as co-chairs.
Reynold wore a velvet tux while his wife wore a crown, opera gloves, and a dropping earring which she accessorized on an expensive Atelier Versace gown. As if that was not enough, she made many jaws drop when she made a quick costume change. Her bow transformed into a long blue train that left many drooling.
Other celebrities, such as the Oscar winner Regina King and Broadway superstar Lin-Manuel Miranda also served as co-chairs alongside Lively in the 2022 Met Gala.
