We don’t always come across events that touch our hearts in the warmest way. But when we do, they stick with us forever, such as the case of something that occurred in Blanchard High School in Oklahoma back in 2023 but has resurfaced in modern-day Reddit. In the video, we can see a Blanchard High School principal helping a student graduate to fulfill his mother’s wish before passing. It is a heartwarming yet sad moment that just shows how great humanity can sometimes be and how this world still has a lot of people willing to go out of their way to bring someone happiness in their last moments.

Updated on January 29, 2025: Cara Harris, Woodrum’s sister-in-law, reached out to thank us for covering the story and told us that the original video is on YouTube on Harris’ channel. If you want to watch it, here’s the link. They also shared that two more members of their family have passed away since the recording of the video, so our sincerest condolences to Harris’ family.

The event took place in Blanchard, Oklahoma, back in 2023. However, it has appeared now in the r/BeAmazed subreddit and has touched a lot of people’s hearts. According to the original story, student Caleb Woodrum was set to graduate from Blanchard High School, Oklahoma, in May of 2023. However, his mom suffered from congestive heart failure. The mother wanted to see her son graduate, and the hospital and family were able to put together a graduation in the hospital room. Principal Greg Jackson attended the graduation ceremony to hand the diploma to Woodrum. Sadly, Woodrum’s mom, Stacey, passed away a day later.

Naturally, many people have shared their thoughts on this event full of overwhelming emotions for those involved at the time and the ones watching it for the first time.

This brings me to tears. Why don’t we have more folks willing to go out of their way to bring joy or relieve the suffering of others?

This resonates deeply in many ways. Nowadays, we are bombarded with bad news or events that just make us shake our heads at what humanity has become. However, there are many times that the internet reminds us that not everything is doom and gloom. There are amazing people out there willing to help others in the blink of an eye. One example is the principal, who went all the way to the hospital to fulfill a dying mother’s wish.

What an awesome principal! Special moment made

In truth, everyone involved in making this happen deserves praise. Assembling a graduation in a day is no easy feat. But most importantly, giving someone their last moments of joy is something not everyone can achieve, so props to those who were with Caleb and Stacey in that moment. Even if it happened some time ago, it shows us that humans are more than capable of loving, helping out, and bringing joy, even in moments when things don’t look so great.
