Abandoned Realtime Experiences App
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

Approaching the midway point of July, Blue Box Studios has detailed what to expect from its upcoming trailers app. In June, Blue Box drove users on Twitter crazy with teases for its debut title, Abandoned. However, instead of excitement for a new indie game, many believed the title to really be a new Silent Hill. This conspiracy started after the developer teased the game’s real name starts with “S” and ends with “L.”

After numerous denials by the team, including videos from director Hasan Kahraman, the developer delayed the trailer app until August. Blue Box claimed localization issues as the reason for the delay. After the delay announcement, the studio went silent online, that is until today.

Blue Box’s Twitter posted an overview of what to expect from the app now called Abandoned: Realtime Experience. According to the tweet, the app will have multiple trailers ranging from five to twelve minutes long, live events and gameplay demonstrations. The app will utilize the PS5’s hardware to run trailers in real-time and utilize the haptics on the Dual Sense controller. A page for the app is already on the PlayStation Store as of this writing.

Barring any more delays, the Realtime Experience app will be available for preload on July 29, with the official launch on August 10. An introduction of some sort promises to arrive August 10, which Blue Box mentioned in an earlier tweet. Coincidentally, Reddit user QuimSix, who accurately predicted the last two State of Plays, says a PlayStation event is happening in August as well. While a solid date isn’t mentioned, it seems that this may be the rumored PlayStation Experience event that hasn’t occurred since 2017.

If August does end up being PlayStation’s month of reveals, then it makes sense that the first trailer for Abandoned or whatever it will go by. Hopefully, whatever Blue Box Studios is ready to show in the app lives up to the hype it has garnered.
