There had been confirmation that a script has been in the works for Nobody 2, with Bob Odenkirk returning, and now we know the film will shoot in 2023. Collider spoke to Violent Night and Nobody producer Kelly McCormick about the sequel to the action flick, who confirmed the news.
The first film saw the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul step into the shoes of a seemingly boring husband and father who turns out to be a John Wick-styled killer. After a break-in at his house that endangered his family, he goes on a quest to stop the threat at the source by going to war with the Russian mob.
The family is now on the road since the conclusion of the first film; Bob Odenkirk has paths to go down for Nobody 2. It leaves the door open for plenty of stories to tell that lead to the actor killing more bad guys creatively and brutally. McCormick has hopes to make a “great sequel.”
“We hope to make it next year, so fingers crossed. So our theory is you don’t need to make a good sequel just to make a sequel. We need to make a great sequel.”
Nobody 2 is taking Bob Odenkirk for more action in 2023
The first film was directed by Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry) and written by Derek Kolstad, who wrote the first three John Wick movies, which was one of the reasons it felt so much like the Keanu Reeves-led action franchise. The other part was that it was produced by David Leitch, who worked on the first John Wick, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde, and Bullet Train. The Better Call Saul actor was joined by Aleksey Serebryakov (Leviathan), Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman 1984), and Christopher Lloyd.
Hitting the gym and getting to shoot criminals got the Better Call Saul actor to want to do more action. He found the experience of the Naishuller-directed film “very surprising.” If he were to do it, he wants to have some humor with it, like “Jackie Chan films.”
