Ever seen someone overreact to something that would have been resolved so easily that you want to run away to hide in second-hand embarrassment? A Karen crashing out, cursing at the top of her lungs in Dillard’s in Arizona over a sweater, would have given the onlookers the exact feeling.
A TikTok video showed the Karen tossing the shopping bag, which contained the sweater, over the counter at the employees. “I want my money! Right now!!” she bellowed, banging the counter with both hands. One of the employees standing right beside the woman immediately picked up the phone to call the police. “Because I’m yelling?” The Karen asked. Once the employee confirmed that it was the reason, the disgruntled customer screamed, “Give me my [expletive] sweater back! They’re mine! I bought them!” When one of the employees tried to reason with her, she yelled, “Give me my sweater. I bought it, you’re stealing it!” before storming away from the counter.
Netizens were convinced that the woman’s behavior was beyond normal.
“Call a priest with the police, too,” one joked. “She has to be on some drug!!! What happened to mental institutions?” another wrote. “Mental illness doesn’t discriminate based on which political views a person has. This lady is clearly a spoiled brat,” a TikToker said. Echoing their thoughts, another noted, “This is exactly how my 3-year-old handles his frustration.”
Some users found the entire situation comical. “She walked away with a sore throat for the next 3 days, lol,” one joked. “Imagine Dillard’s being the place you lose it,” someone wrote, and another responded, “There is nothing in a Dillard’s that is that serious 😂.” A TikToker said, “Yelling that she wants her sweater back. They stole it. After she threw it back there 😂 golden. Absolutely golden,” another wrote.
“The workers did an awesome job and stayed professional,” one netizen noted. Another pointed out, “When in the world did this become acceptable behavior? It’s happening all the time! WTH.”
Just like the netizen noted, entitlement and irrational behaviors have become the norm. The NerdStash reported that a racist Karen berated some Costco shoppers in Texas because they went ahead of her in line.
The racist woman decided to go for a low blow when she confronted the couple. She told them that they did not look American. “You don’t look it. You would have waited for me to move,” justifying her words. When the couple tried to reply to her with a comeback, she decided it was because they had a bad attitude.
