The Trump administration continues to usher in unique town hall meetings. A group of senior citizens recently attended a Texas town hall meeting to protest against Republican Rep. Beth Van Duyne. During the protest, the attendees used several props, including a life-sized mannequin of Duyne and a blow-up doll depicting President Donald Trump as a baby.
The meeting took place in a town hall in South Lake, Texas, and the attendees appeared to be mainly within the age range of 61 to 79, also known as the Boomer generation. Several placards and posters were strewn around the hall mocking the United States Representative.
In the video shared on TikTok, a member of the audience appeared to ask Duyne’s mannequin. “Listen to your constituents before you make a decision on what to vote for,” the member said. The person operating the mannequin answered mockingly, “And why would I do that?” causing the audience to erupt in laughter. The female member holding the microphone then said, “You know what, I think we need to vote you out.” This was met with cheers and chants from the audience saying, “Vote her out!”
One placard in front of the mannequin read, “Grow a spine, Beth Van Duyne,” and another read, “Beth Van Duyne, your constituents deserve to be heard!”
Another poster also had the inscription, “Change happens one conversation at a time.” Another depicted the Republican as a chicken with the inscription, “Why did the chicken cross the road? To avoid her constituents.”
Members of the public have reacted to the video in several ways. One social media user said, “A room full of white guilt,” while another said, “They looked like they were bussed in from Assisted Living Facilities. The residents are typically hungry for entertainment.”
Another social media user also commented on the age of the town hall meeting attendees. “What the hell, are they raising local retirement communities for crowds now? The blue hairs too expensive?” the user said. Another chimed in, saying, “How much are they getting paid? Boomers gather for cash.”
More people came forward to make comments on the protest against the Republican rep, saying it would be damaging for the Democrats. “This is the left. Completely unhinged. The Democrats made a huge mistake giving them their platform. The democrats may not survive,” someone commented.
One other person mocked the ages of the attendees, saying, “Oh man, such a strong movement of 100-year-olds,” and another replied with the comment, “Looks like a kindergarten class for adults.”
This is not the first time there has been a protest against the United States representative. A similar protest was recently held in the same town hall, where the attendees mocked Duyne by holding up face posters showing a picture of her headshot.
