Bounty Battle, a brand new all-star indie crossover fighting game, is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam on September 10. The game will feature 30 fighters from 22 different indie games, including Dead Cells, Guacamelee!, Nuclear Throne, and Darkest Dungeon.
Each fighter comes with their unique abilities and Minion companion and to summon and join the fight. And in this four-player 2D brawler, you must defeat opponents by either depleting their life bar or by ejecting them from the arena — if the arena allows it. Sound like Smash Bros., Marvel vs. Capcom, and SoulCalibur got together and made this. Bounty Battle also has a host of traditional fighting game modes such as Local Versus, Tournament, Challenge Mode, Tutorial, and the ever-so-essential Training Room.
The hand-drawn trailer you can watch below hasn’t shown off how the game will play out. But seeing The Prisoner, Rusty, Crusader, and all those characters standing beside each other is pretty exciting, don’t you think?
As I mentioned before, Bounty Battle will feature more than 20 different indie titles. Here’s the complete list of characters that will come with the base game:
- Awesomenauts
- Axiom Verge
- Battle Chasers Nightwar
- Blocks that Matter
- Blubber Busters
- Darkest Dungeon
- Dead Cells
- Death’s Gambit
- Doko Roko
- EITR
- Flinthook
- Guacamelee!
- Jotun
- Nuclear Throne
- Oddmar
- Owlboy
- Pankapu
- Ruin of the Reckless
- SteamWorld Dig
- Super Comboman
- The Bug Butcher
- Tower of Samsara
Honestly, it’s kind of weird not seeing Shovel Knight‘s name on an indie crossover list anymore. But Bounty Battle Designer and Project Lead François von Orelli promised that they are going to add more characters as free updates later. So there’s still hope for our blue-hopper to join in on the fight.
In terms of the future, plans are still being finalized for DLC — we’re still speaking with a number of indie studios who are interested in having their characters in Bounty Battle! The main focus is to ensure the game remains balanced when adding new playable characters. All future indie guests will be added as free DLC!”
