Brad Pitt’s relationship with his family is no secret. Things are bad and just continue to get worse. However, his daughter Shilioh recently dropped Pitt’s last name in favor of her mother, Angelina Jolie’s name. Shiloh completed the name change back in May on her 18th birthday. Shiloh’s decision to drop her father’s last name was made public shortly after it was finalized. The news was broken via the Los Angeles Times.
People reports that shortly after the article was posted, Shiloh’s lawyer, Peter Levine, spoke out about the young adult’s decision. Dropping Pitt’s last name was more than likely a very tough decision. However, it was one that had to be made after years of drama and painful events.
Angelina Jolie Is the Primary Care Taker for Her and Brad Pitt’s Children
“The media should be more careful in their reporting,” Levine said, “especially when covering a young adult who has made an independent and significant decision following painful events and is merely following the legal process.” Explaining this process further, he said, “Shiloh Jolie did not take out an ‘ad’ announcing any name change, and any press reporting that is inaccurate. As Shiloh’s attorney, I am required to publish a legal notice because the law in California requires that of anyone who wants to change their name. That legal notice was published in the Los Angeles Times, as is required.”
Rumors have been swirling for years about what truly happened during the marriage of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Rumors of abuse and constant arguments have been at the forefront. However, nothing has been confirmed.
It is known that Brad Pitt is upset about the relationship he has with his kids. Although he still has visitation with the younger ones, his older children want nothing to do with him. Angelina Jolie is the primary caretaker for their children, and it will most likely remain that way.
