There is a lot to be said about people who can spring into action while in the face of an emergency or danger. Personally, I can be a little flighty when pressured to think quickly, but many situations warrant a faster reaction time. A Knoxville, Tennessee, couple was able to use their quick thinking to save a local restaurant from burning down after noticing clouds of smoke in the air.
It’s insane that no one else happened to be in the area, or at least close enough to see the white clouds coming up from every available vent around the building. Sometimes, it’s worth being a little bit curious, especially when it means the possibility of saving lives.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @beapacific, a self-proclaimed mermaid who typically posts about herself and the makeup looks she sports. This time, things were a little different, with the focus of the video being on a local restaurant named Los Braceros on Emory Road in Knoxville, Tennessee.
While there weren’t any flames visible, you could physically see the smoke trying to escape via any available route, even coming out of air vents and cracks in windows and doors. Both the original poster and the man she was with called the authorities, who then sent firefighters over to investigate the area.
However, while doing that, you can see her go from the front door to the windows to try and determine if anyone was inside. According to an update, the call was made at 11:20 pm, and the restaurant had closed only an hour and 20 minutes beforehand.
Tennessee Locals Save Restaurant from Burning Down
Commenters were quick to jump in the replies and talk about how dangerous it was for her to walk so close to the building, with one person saying, “Firefighter here. The fact you can’t see flames and there is white smoke means the fire has been burning for a decent amount of time and it is starving for oxygen. Opening a door at that point would either be a “flashover” or possible “backdraft”. Another person was a little more comedic about it, adding an image of an exploding building with the comment, “Y’all got way too close to that building.”
Other people were far more grateful for their actions, with one of the top comments saying, “THANK YOU for calling, 95% of ppl don’t call things in because they think someone else already did!” Fortunately, it appears that everyone involved was okay.
