The rising athlete, who is the son of NBA legend LeBron James, recalled the fateful day, saying it started off pretty normal. He took his usual daily smoothie and went to join a summer workout on USC’s campus. While in the middle of running drills, Bronny blacked out and the rest is history. The USC Trojans alum revealed that he can’t remember anything else. However, it turns out he suffered a cardiac arrest due to a congenital heart defect. When asked if in the moment, he was worried about his ability to play basketball again, Bronny confessed somberly:
“At the point when it happened, there were a whole bunch of categories that what had happened could fall under, so yeah. There were a whole lot of emotions.”
However, rather than focus on his feelings, Bronny poured himself into his recovery routine. “I got real on top of my routines to get back to where I was. I had to do breathing exercises and stuff. It was a total reset,” he explained.
How Bronny James Pushes Through Negativity
While Bronny seems to thriving more than a year later, running alongside his father on the court, he is not able to completely shake the trauma of the health scare. “My days aren’t normal anymore,” he admitted. “I still feel like I’m getting back, I’m getting back to where I was.” Unfortunately, the journey to returning to normal has been plagued with heavy criticism about his performance. Fans have quite high expectations of the young adult, given who is father is. However, Bronny isn’t fazed, especially not after he fought to be alive.
“Everything I’ve been through over the years has prepared me for this,” he declared. “I really think it just ties back to me experiencing so much negativity and pushing through all of that. I feel like it built me to where any situation that is trying to hold me back or I’m not fighting through at the time, I can sustain my comfortability and belief in myself.”
