Brooke Shields’ Sexual Assault Story Detailed In The Upcoming Documentary, “Brooke Shield: Pretty Baby.”
Shields claimed stardom following her sexualized roles in “Pretty Baby” and “The Blue Lagoon.” However, it made her somewhat of a sex symbol.
Decades after this reputation fizzled out, she delves into her life as a young graduate. Brooke Shields’ sexual assault occurred in her 20s when she was at an all-time low.
At the time, the then-upcoming actress dined with a Hollywood executive who promised her a job. She visited his hotel room to call a cab, but he assaulted her instead.
Shields had no one to protect or defend her, and neither did she ward him off. The actress claimed she froze, however, the trauma that tagged along was devastating.
The “Pretty Baby” star blamed herself, she was convinced her nativity got the better part of her.
In her words:
“I kept saying, ‘I shouldn’t have done that. Why did I go up with him? I shouldn’t have had that drink at dinner.'”
It was difficult getting the story out, she was afraid of being judged and mocked. However, the onscreen star confided in her BFF, Gavin de Becker.
Through her documentary, she wants victims of sexual abuse to know that they are not alone. At the same time, Shields hopes to motivate them to “speak their truth.”
