Bruce Willis‘ family faces a difficult time during the holidays. Despite their attempts to keep an upbeat attitude, it has been a challenging year. They are going into the New Year with much hope but fear a grim year as Bruce’s condition rapidly declines.
Bruce Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia nearly two years ago. At first, the family stated that the Die Hard star was doing well. However, as time and the disease have progressed, things have taken a heartbreaking turn, according to the Daily Mail.
On Sunday, Bruce’s wife, Emma Heming, took to Instagram to acknowledge the couple’s 17th wedding anniversary. What started as a heartfelt tribute to her spouse took a sad turn as Emma shared an emotional update on Bruce’s condition.
She admits that anniversaries no longer bring her the joy they once did. Emma writes, “If I’m honest, they stir up all the feelings, leaving a heaviness in my heart and a pit in my stomach. I give myself 30 minutes to sit in the ‘why him, why us,’ to feel the anger and grief. Then, I shake it off and return to what it is. And what is unconditional love? I feel blessed to know it, and it’s because of him. I’d do it all over again and again in a heartbeat.”
Heming posted a photo of herself and Bruce taken during a much happier time, along with the heartfelt post. Unfortunately, Bruce Willis’s condition recently declined drastically during 2024, leaving the family fearing a grim 2025.
Bruce Willis Health Decline Fills Family With Sadness And Fear
As previously reported, the Willis family has remained by Bruce’s side since his diagnosis. They are determined to spend every moment with him and ensure he receives the best care possible.
Sadly, there is no cure for FTD, and the family fully understands that Bruce’s health will only continue to worsen. Sources close to the family reveal that the actor’s condition has taken a drastic turn over the past few months, revealing more bad days than good.
Bruce Willis remains in his family home and receives around-the-clock nursing care. At times, he no longer recognizes his family members and recently became nonverbal. Bruce’s wife, Emma, admits that no one knows how much time Bruce has left. However, they understand the nature and the outcome of this disease.
Emma, their two young daughters, Mabel and Evelyn, and his three adult daughters, Rumor, Tallulah, Scout, and ex-wife Demi Moore, are prepared for the worst. Emma reveals that as hard as it is to accept, her young daughters know that Daddy’s not going to get better.
“It’s hard to watch someone you love deteriorate before your eyes day after day,” sympathizes one fan.
As painful as it is for Bruce Willis and his family, they are doing their best to remain strong. Bruce is in a stable place for now, but things change daily as his condition progresses. Willis’ ex-wife and close friend, Demi Moore, reveals her advice to their family as they move forward into 2025.
“What I say to my kids is you meet [him] where [he’s] at,’ Moore said in the appearance. ‘You don’t hold on to who [who he was] or what you want [him] to be, but who [he is] in this moment.”
They are thankful for every day with Bruce, good or bad. Moving forward, they plan to keep Bruce feeling as loved, safe, and comfortable as possible.
