Not long after revisiting Walter White in Better Call Saul, Bryan Cranston may be revisiting another memorable role. Cranston is suggesting the possibility of a Malcolm in the Middle movie. Speaking to E! News, Cranston said, “There was some talk about the possibility of doing, like, a reunion movie of Malcolm in the Middle. We had such a great family on that, and I certainly would be open to that if there was a good idea that came up — like, ‘Oh, that would be fantastic to explore what happened to this family 20 years later.’ I can’t believe it’s already that, but that would be fun to do.”
Bryan Cranston and Frankie Muniz Open to ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Movie
A Malcolm in the Middle movie would be the first time we’ve revisited the characters since the Emmy-winning Fox series ended its seven-season run in 2006. Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek as the parents of five troublemakers. While all five boys were quite wild, one son, the title character Malcolm (Frankie Muniz), was revealed to be a genius. Malcolm would frequently face the camera to break the fourth wall and vent about his family and being an outcast at school.
Like Cranston, the now 37-year-old Muniz has said he is open to doing a Malcolm in the Middle reunion or movie. While Muniz is starting a new career as a NASCAR driver, he has still managed to keep an acting career going, appearing in shows like The Rookie and New Amsterdam. He also competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2017.
Malcolm in the Middle’s creator Linwood Boomer told Entertainment Weekly in October that a reunion was still on the table. “We’re talking about it,” Boomer said. “We all think it would be fun if we get the right idea. Honestly, it would be going much faster if everyone wasn’t so annoying.”
