An Indianapolis resident has been arrested for threatening and assaulting a 14-year-old boy who was riding his motorized bike through the man’s street on Saturday, 25 January. The man has since been identified as 46-year-old local plumber and pastor, Jason Harrell. We’ve decided against embedding the video as it contains graphic scenes of violence targeting a minor, though the clip is publicly available on Reddit.
In the footage, which appears to be captured by a neighbour’s door cam, you can see a man in a white van pull up next to the 14-year-old in a snowy street. The man — Jason Harrell — immediately begins swearing and cursing at the young bike rider, yelling: “Where the f*** do you live? Tell your f***ing stupid a** dad to come f***ing talk to me. I see you on my god d*** street again, I’m gonna f*** you up. Get the f*** out of here, do you understand?“
The altercation then begins to escalate even further, as Harrell then gets out of his vehicle and approaches the boy. “Do you understand?” the man asks again as he gets closer to the minor. To this, the teenager responds with, “Yes, sir.” This answer doesn’t seem to placate Harrell who continues to get more irate. “Get the f*** off my street!” he yells.
It’s at this point where the man begins his violent assault on the 14-year-old, pushing him over from his bike and into the snow. Shockingly, Harrell then proceeds to punch the teenager in the face while he’s on the ground. “I’m sorry!” shouts the boy as he’s being attacked. The 49-year-old man then points at the young boy on the floor and yells, “I see you on this f***ing street again, I’m gonna f***ing kill you and your dad! You under-f***ing-stand? Get on this bike and get the f*** out of here! Right. F***ig. Now! Am I gonna see you on this f***ing street again? I’ll f*** your dad up and your stupid f***ing homo f***!”
With the clip continuing to snowball online, netizens flooded the comments section across social media platforms to air their thoughts. One commenter on Reddit wrote:
Elsewhere, another user chimed in with, “He’s just angry that he and the kid are the same height“
Interestingly, posts over on Facebook revealed some additional context as to the aftermath of the violent incident, with images of the aggressor and the young victim who was attacked. One of the images of Harrell is accompanied by a caption stating: “The 46 years old man who hit my nephew and threatened to kill my nephew and his family“
According to Fox59, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 700 block of Aberdeen Drive around 3:41 p.m. on Saturday due to reports of a disturbance. Local resident Jason Harrell is known to become irate when kids in the neighbourhood drive their dirt bikes on the sidewalks and roads due to the noise. Harrell currently faces a Level 6 felony charge for intimidation with threat to commit a forcible felony, and two counts of battery (Class A misdemeanours).
Thankfully, while the teenage victim did sustain an injury to his lip, the family chose not to receive medical assistance.
