War has begun, and we can already see it causing ripples across the country. Sadly, many young souls are being enlisted to fight in a war, but that’s not the heartbreaking part. As you know, ever since Trump became president, he has been pushing his immigration crackdown, and with ICE let loose, things have only gotten worse. Some of these agents in California have even targeted legal Latino citizens, but now, these people who have been in their homes, afraid of being racially profiled or worse, are flying to fight in Iran. After people recorded a heartbreaking farewell from a young Latino soldier leaving to fight, people are furious because they think ICE should be fighting, and not our young citizens.
The video showsin California a fairly young Latino citizen saying goodbye to what we assume are his father and brother as he leaves to fight in Iran. What shocks many people is that the person wearing a uniform seems quite young and of Latino heritage. On top of that, people think it is hypocritical that the government is sending Latin American people to fight when it has been pushing ICE to detain all of them, regardless of their status in the country. Of course, legal citizens are the only ones allowed in the army, but since ICE doesn’t distinguish between legal and illegal people, this looks extremely hypocritical.
As you can imagine, people are sad, confused, and angry about the situation, especially since many believe the so-called peacekeepers should be on the front lines, not our young ones.
“This is so sad. I have a brand new 18-year-old (as of a week), I can’t even imagine what these parents and that family and the soldier are going through.” – BajanBeautyKatie via Reddit.
Other Redditors are worried about the kid, who, as you can see, has Latin American heritage, and ICE does racial profiling almost daily, meaning that if he returns, he might suffer abuses from these agents.
“This is so unfair. If he makes it back, he’ll probably be abducted by ICE.” – Katgal2 via Reddit.
It’s sad to see these situations unfold, and by the looks of it, chaos is just starting. If the immigration crackdowns, ICE mayhem, and other things weren’t enough, now families like this one have to see some of their youngest members go to war. We can only hope that the war ends soon, but it might be too early to tell.
