Thousands of people are already getting ready with decorations, gifts, and, of course, the main attraction of Thanksgiving: the dinner. However, after always serving traditional dishes, more daring chefs seek to innovate in the kitchen. This expert ice cream chef from California, whose ambitious plan is to transform the traditional Thanksgiving dinner into a frozen and colorful menu definitely went very wrong.
Redditor HomeSpark_Jen shared one of influencer Craftwytch’s most recent videos on r/StupidFood. This particular influencer gained popularity by making thousands of videos transforming basically any food into a cold dessert, from pumpkin pie to more experimental flavors like bacon. This year, the California chef decided to set himself the goal of making ice cream with the flavors of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The influencer combined several of the flavors into a single dessert, creating a very colorful four-layer ice cream. From bottom to top, there was a potato salad base, followed by honey and jalapeño, then turkey-flavored tofu, and the crown jewel: cranberry sauce.
Users immediately shared their thoughts on this “well-balanced” food. Some said that they might not dare to eat everything together, but that the sweet flavors were what caught their attention the most. Other, more adventurous users said that they would like to try the richer, saltier flavors.
“I was open minded until the tofu came out. That looked absolutely vile,” commented beardybozo.
“Not sure about the tofurky, but the rest of this seems really solid,” added Zeqhanis.
“I don’t know if they work well together, but I think on their own they’d be amazing. I’d be curious to try the cornbread ice cream too if I’m being honest (hopefully it was sweet as well as savory),” said Ok_Star_4136.
The best part is that for those who were curious to get a little taste of what this cold dinner would be like, Craftwytch uploaded a second video with his results. Although the influencer obviously tries to be very optimistic about his results, his words don’t sound very convincing. Apparently, the potato salad ice cream turned out mushy, and the noni and jalapeño ice cream tasted more like celery than jalapeño. It definitely seems that the cranberry ice cream was the best part of the whole dinner. Or at least I would love to try that cranberry ice cream on its own, I’m not that adventurous.
