A California sidewalk turned into the scene of a life-or-death drama when local comedian and dog trainer Jay Lett, also known as Bestfetchdog, performed emergency CPR on a collapsed Boxer, reviving the dog in what onlookers called “a serious rescue.”
The video shows Lett springing into action after spotting a woman standing in shock over her dog, who had suddenly gone limp during a walk. Lett, who says he “just happened to see the lady standing over her dog,” immediately began chest compressions and mouth-to-snout breaths, performing canine CPR with calm precision. After several tense moments, the Boxer’s body jolted back to life, lifting its head before rising shakily to its feet. The owner gasped in relief, visibly overwhelmed, while the bystander behind the camera summed it up perfectly: “That’s a serious rescue.”
Once the dog was conscious, Lett urged the owner to get the pet to a veterinarian right away. “He’s back, but have them check him out,” he advised. The urgency in his tone underscored both his training and his care for the animal’s long-term safety.
On Facebook, the response was immediate and emotional. “Best rescue video EVER,” one commenter wrote, while another called Lett “a beautiful man” and “God’s angel.” Dozens echoed the sentiment, celebrating both his quick thinking and his compassion. One follower added, “You were in the right place at the right time.”
The video also reignited an online conversation about heat safety and responsible exercise for dogs. Several viewers pointed out that the Boxer appeared to have been running beside a bicycle on a warm day, a situation that can lead to heatstroke or cardiac distress, especially in brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds.
In a rare blend of humor, heroism, and heart, the comedian-turned-savior reminded thousands why animal first aid matters. “Please learn CPR,” Lett wrote in his caption — a call that resonated with dog owners everywhere.
As one fan put it beneath the video: “Jay, you’re a hero. You saved that beautiful baby.”
And for a few unforgettable minutes on a California street, he truly was.
