A father in California learned the real meaning behind ‘heartwarming’ when both he and his daughter showed the world his progress on his journey to learning English. Not only does this show that it’s possible to learn difficult things, but there is also a lot of power in supporting others.
California TikTokers @kimiandherdad are a Spanish-speaking duo who create videos surrounding topics such as family and, most recently, learning English. Despite Kimi herself having a grasp of the English language, it is not her father’s native language and he struggles with basic words. Fortunately, he has an incredible daughter who is willing to spend time and teach him the language, one word at a time.
In the above video, Kimi tells the camera that her dad is learning English and that today, they will be roleplaying a conversation. More specifically, the conversation would focus on landscaping and whether her father would be able to understand her if she were a customer giving specific instructions on how to complete the job. Sure, there were a few points where it was a bit difficult to understand exactly what it was that the father was trying to convey, but there is no doubt that he understood exactly what was being told to him.
Commenters were quick to jump into the replies and commend the family for their dedication to one another, with one person saying, “My heartttt.” Other commenters agreed, with the very top comment even saying, “She’s setting him up for success 🥹.”
Looking through their library of videos, Kimi and her father have been at this for a long time, and his progress is something to be proud of. Hopefully, Kimi can continue to teach her father the English language to a point where he can feel comfortable speaking to others freely in public.
