Most people have had jobs where they were on their feet all day. By the end of the shift, the aches are often unbearable. It’s at this moment that the temptation to sit down, disconnect, and rip one’s shoes off is all too real. While this is not something most people would consider when keeping their jobs, one video is going viral for precisely that. When a customer recorded a California Domino’s employee during what appeared to be downtime, they also caught something wholly unsavory.
The video, posted by @bycarolinecase, shows a Domino’s employee sitting behind the display case. While this isn’t all that unusual, that changes once the camera pans in. The employee is seen sitting down, phone-scrolling, and rubbing their feet. Unfortunately, they also decided to take off their shoes, adding another level of discomfort for customers walking in.
In the video, you can hear the customer recording say, “Should we leave?” After this, the video ends, and it can only be assumed that the customers did, in fact, leave. After witnessing such an awkward and concerning sight, many viewers are sharing their own opinions about the situation.
“Please report to your local health department!” One user on TikTok comments. This garnered more than 200 responses full of mixed feelings. “It’s not about making them suffer but to have an investigation and find anything else wrong because this could be a serious health risk,” one user replies. Another says, “The business should know. If this is happening up front, imagine what’s going on on the back. Absolutely report to the health department.” Among comments saying it was disgusting and unsanitary were the (very) few who didn’t see the big deal. “She’s on break..and what’s wrong..she will wash her hand and have gloves after that…” says one user.
While Domino’s has refused to comment at the time of writing, the video has already gone viral. The latest report is that the employee was fired following the video surfacing. As for the store itself, there’s no update on whether the toe-rubbing was addressed after it was caught on camera. The bigger question people are asking is this: Why would anyone take their shoes off in a food establishment?
