According to a document detailing the California hospice licensure and oversight, the California governor, Gavin Newsom, has known for four years of the hospice fraudsters who have been stealing taxpayer dollars.
Chief Content Officer of Right Line News Eric Daugherty took to X to share the news, where dozens of commenters took to the replies to share their opinion about the situation.
According to a document dated March 2022, Newsom was warned by a fraud auditor of the rapid increase in the number of hospice agencies with no clear correlation to the increased need, alongside other factors. One of these factors incuded abnormally high rates of still-living patients discharged from hospice care.
For context, hospice care is end-of-life care, meaning that it is only necessary if the patient has only a few months to live and wants a comfortable quality of life rather than being cured of their illness.
According to the post, Governor Newsom was also sent a map that indicates the location of hospice agencies clustered within a single location in Los Angeles County. In a hearing with RFK Jr. just this week, it was said, “Hospices in Los Angeles. We’ve shut 500 of them; we haven’t gotten one call from a congressperson or a patient about why, because those hospices did not exist. They’re signing up patients. They’re getting patient IDs, signing them up, and charging us $6,000 a month. How did we detect them? Oh, because the patients never died.”
Reactions to Governor Newsom Being Aware of Hospice Fraudsters for Years
Commenters took to the replies to share their opinions on the situation, with various people not being surprised. One person even wrote, “Not a surprise in the slightest….” Another wrote, “The hospice fraud in California is well known, they intentionally ignored it.“
Other commenters were focused on a larger picture, with one writing, “I have to choose my words carefully. All of these reports coming out that politicians knew about all of this and did nothing suggests they were complicit in this for financial gain or benefitted those who provided massive support for their campaign and provided them voters. I want both Dems and republicans locked up where this has taken place. I even made a graphic today on how this works in a systems level.”
Some commenters are asking for Gavin Newsom’s resignation while asking to vote for British and American conservative political commentator and former political adviser Steve Hilton to replace him.
