A California woman was in for a surprise when her toddler ran ahead of her at a Target store. This is a situation that so many moms with toddlers completely understand. However, when she caught up to her child, she never thought she would then be berated by an angry Karen.
Brenda (@brendaababyy2) shared a TikTok video after she had a wild interaction with an angry customer at a Target store. She was on a road trip with her toddler and figured she’d stop at the store to give him a chance to stretch his legs. He ran a few steps ahead of her, when a lady shopping at the store ran into him with her cart. Instead of apologizing or laughing it off, she was completely belligerent about the situation. She decided to take this anger out on Brenda and her child.
In the recording, the Karen starts walking toward Brenda with her phone in hand and it looks like she’s on a mission. She immediately starts berating Brenda, telling her that she needs to “watch her kid” and not allow them to run through the store. She gestures at Brenda angrily with her phone, yelling, “Watch. Your. Kid!”
Brenda tries to explain to the woman that she only looked away for a second and her child ran off. The Karen has no sympathy whatsoever, explaining that she would never allow her child to run away from her. She then calls Brenda “dumb” and tells her, “Your kid’s gonna get hit by a car!” A young man who is presumably with Brenda tries to brush the woman off and get her to walk away. But she keeps it going, telling Brenda that she’s “too stupid” to watch her child. She doesn’t want to hear anything Brenda has to say about the fact that children sometimes get away from you.
In the end, an associate working at the store had to step in. She gets in between the Karen and Brenda, trying to calm both of them down. She explains that she’ll call security if they don’t calm down and leave the store. Eventually, Brenda tells off the woman one last time and then leaves the store.
Commenters were completely baffled with the way that the woman acted toward Brenda around her child. One commenter stated, “People have gotten WAY too comfortable with being rude in public.” Another commenter added, “Comparing an aisle to a road is crazy work.” Others told Brenda that she kept her cool as well as she could have, given the situation. One told her, “You handled yourself so well, mama!”
Many commenters reached out as the video went viral, leading to conversations about people overreacting in stores. It continues to bring in comments, some hilarious and some irritated by the interaction.
