Sometimes, it is understandable that people misspell names. It is impossible to avoid it when each name is unique, has different spellings, and has similarities with words in other languages. However, everything has a limit because one thing is a mistake, and another is what happened in this TikTok. In this video, a POC woman went to a lab in California where her kit had misspelled her name as King Kong. Worst of all, the lab staff was not helpful in resolving this unfortunate “incident.”
TikTok user kierraking616 reported Perlman Clinic in San Diego on her profile for the humiliating treatment of one of their employees. The problem started when that lab in California gave the test kit to Kierra, who noticed they “misspelled” her name to “King Kong,” something very disrespectful, primarily for her because she identifies herself as a POC woman.
Kierra wasted no time and began to complain to one of the employees, who didn’t know how to respond other than to say that she would investigate and didn’t know who was responsible. Kierra found this outrageous and said she didn’t think it was a typo. Her name and Kong are not similar, and their letters are not even close on the keyboard. Even a comment explained that the typo is not even possible:
Sis, I work in tech. Those systems are literally all I manage. In my nearly 10 years of experience, there is absolutely NO WAY that was a typo. There is no auto correct.
Claire
Then, in the video, the responsible person appears, blatantly saying that she writes very fast and doesn’t even double-check what she writes without taking responsibility.
“I dont check when i type really fast” THEN YOU SHOULDNT BE WORKING IN A MEDICAL FIELD TYPING OUT RECORDS????
tyler
The second worker did not have a condescending tone at the beginning, but her words were, “If you feel of some type of way of how I wrote it and you want to report me, that is totally fine.” Again, she didn’t take accountability because she didn’t mean it, and on top of that, she treated Kierra like a fool. Fortunately, Kierra was not a fool and asked for the worker’s name so she could report her.
