California MAC Employee Fired After Detailing Her Entire Workday on Social Media, ‘You’re So Sweet But This Should’ve Been a Lesson’

Oversharing can land you in hot water

It’s painfully obvious that there are issues with individuals oversharing everything online. Social media has made it quite easy to share moment-by-moment videos of everything a person does. However, this doesn’t always mean that it’s appropriate to share. A California MAC Cosmetics employee recently found out how oversharing can land you in hot water. It just goes to show that, if you’re sharing personal videos inside your workplace, it probably isn’t going to end well.

Bry (@brymarixx) shared a TikTok video of a normal workday at MAC Cosmetics in LAX Airport, Los Angeles. Her video starts out tame enough, with the caption, “Come to work with me at LAX as a MAC Manager with no trending audio!” She also includes time stamps of everything she does there, from catching her 9 a.m. shuttle to going through TSA a half hour later.

However, it’s safe to say that Bry definitely doesn’t understand what it means to overshare. Because, at 10 a.m., you see her “getting money” to put in the drawer at her job for the day. She also records herself having conversations with customers in her store. In one, she tells them that they’re out of a specific brand and in another she hands out a sample to a customer.

When her timestamp for 11 a.m. hits, we see a closeup of Bry’s face as makeup streams down from her eyes. The caption under the timestamp reads, “Get fired.” She glumly carries a box of her belongings and walks out of the store, looking sadly back at the camera. Bry says that this is “the plot twist nobody asked for.”

Though Bry never specifically states what led to her firing, commenters assume that it’s because of her video recordings during work hours. One person pointed out, “You showed your badge, pre-opening times, the amount of money you carry… all security risks.” Another added, “I don’t know why ya’ll think recording every aspect of your day at your job is appropriate anyway. Ya’ll gotta stop coming on the Internet crying after acting like phone addicted children. Go to work and stay off your phone.”

Like many of us, another commenter said, “I can’t imagine crying after getting fired and STILL needing to record it. You’re so sweet but this should’ve been a lesson.” There are some times when it’s appropriate to cut the video and keep certain things off of social media. But in the world of influencing, it’s not uncommon to see personal moments like this that could have been kept private.
