The Trump administration has been known for expressly enforcing policies that go against what most Americans believe in and directly threaten the Constitution itself. He’s been working through his cabinet and staff to make a push toward stricter immigration laws. One California influencer is speaking out on social media about the crazy stance the administration has on immigration. Namely, racially profiling people who may or may not be immigrants.
Spence (@spencewuah on Instagram) shared a video captioned, “The fact that they’re comfortable enough to say this on LIVE television speaks volumes.” Spence starts out with a little bit of humor as he does an impression of a crazy squirrel. He then hilariously says, “Wow, that squirrel has more direction than the US immigration policy right now.” Spence then launches a tirade against Trump’s “border czar”, Chief Tom Homan. Spence explains Homan recently shared that officers didn’t need probable cause to detain people. As Spence adds, that has never really stopped them before. He goes on to say, “They’ve just gotten more comfortable with their racism.”
According Homan’s, “They just go through the observations, get articulable facts, based on their location, their occupation, their physical appearance, their actions.” Spence adds to this, “Translation: ‘We’ve already been doing this, but now I feel a lot more comfortable telling the country that we’ve been detaining people based on racial profiling.’”
Spence continues, “You’re bragging on TV that ICE no longer needs probable cause like it’s cute. As if the 4th Amendment is a suggestion. This is literally racial profiling on steroids.” He then adds, “Don’t forget this is the man who said if countries won’t take back deportees, ICE will just ‘find another country’ to dump them in.” Not to mention, a violation of the 14th amendment.
In other words, it would give ICE a free ticket to cause trouble just by looking at them funny. This dangerous dynamic risks the lives of many individuals and calls so much into question. Spence shares his own thoughts, “That isn’t public safety, that is state terror. And for anybody out here telling you that this is normal, it’s not.” He adds that we’re close to experiencing an “authoritarian government” if we allow them to follow through.
Naturally, wiewers had a lot to say about this outright hatred. One commenter stated, “According to the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution, you cannot racially profile someone or even go after them based on their race.” They hilariously added, “But if they could comprehend and read, they’d be very upset.” Another person said, “This is so ridiculous and I wish someone with power would actually do something about it.”
We need more people like Spence to spread the word and speak out against this evil and illegal behavior!
