If you spend enough time out and about in major California cities, you’re bound to see some sights. Sometimes, it’s the people living in the city around you. One California woman was out with her friends when she was involved in a confrontation with a man on the street. It’s not known if he had one too many drinks or was just vibing when the confrontation started. But one thing is for sure: He was not about to let her get away with calling him a Republican.
Mary (@marysteakmediumrare) shared a TikTok captioned “only in California” after a weird encounter with a man. In the video, Mary is searching for her phone so she can record an ongoing confrontation with a man across the street from her vehicle. You can hear several of her friends giggling in the background. She quickly turns the camera, and you can see an angry man making gestures at her. He’s standing in the pitch black across the street. He’s standing on the sidewalk and screaming at the top of his lungs, “Don’t ever [expletive] call me a Republican!”
The man continues yelling as he continues down the sidewalk, screaming, “DON’T EVER!!” Mary and her friends continue giggling as she says, “Don’t call him that. Don’t call him a Republican. He’s a Democrat.” She then says out the window to the man from a safe distance, “It’s okay. You’re gonna be okay. Obama cares!” She then turns to her friend and says, “Oh, he said, ‘[expletive] you!” They’re clearly stunned by his overreaction. It makes you wonder what prompted him to overreact in the first place. What conversation were they possibly having before she started recording?
Commenters joked around with Mary in her comments, saying, “Why would anyone wanna be called something so horrific?” Another commenter quipped, “It really is that serious.” One commenter replied to this, “Right? Luckily I think my look is alternative enough for people to know better but this would absolutely be me in the middle of the Walmart.” It’s clear from the comments that they agree that the man was warranted in feeling so strongly. Only in California!
