A woman in California, shortly after giving birth to her newborn son, went for the emotional baby button press as she was ready to leave the hospital. Instead of pushing the button herself, she decided to let her late husband do it. How? By pressing the button with his duck-shaped urn, of course.

This is my daughter walking out of the hospital with her latest baby. Her husband passed away about 4 months into the pregnancy by a tragic car accident leaving his wife and 4 children behind. The duck in this video was hand carved and painted for his ashes and him pushing that button made him feel just that much closer to us. We miss you Aydin but not a day will go by that we don’t involve you in everything we do. duckurn igoca family

The heartwarming and tear-jerking clip was shared online by Jennifer Bennett. She is the mother of Autumn McCoy, who gave birth to baby boy Westyn. Autumn’s husband, Aydin, sadly passed away in a car accident earlier in the year, when Autumn was four months pregnant. The emotional moment shown in the clip attached above went viral, garnering 1.9 million views, 221,900 likes, and more than 480 comments.

The California woman began recording her daughter getting out of her hospital bed, already discharged and ready to go home with Westyn. Before she did so, however, she wanted to push the baby button, celebrating a new life being born.

Dad Pushes Button

Jennifer suggested to Autumn that she let Aydin push the button. The mother then gave her daughter a duck-shaped urn, where the late man’s ashes were stored. Both women laughed tenderly, and Autumn pressed the baby button with the mallard’s bill.

The unexpected use of the duck-shaped urn drew warm laughter from those nearby before Autumn explained, “This is the dad.” One of the nurses said, “That’s appropriate, huh,” while Jennifer spoke to her late son-in-law.

“There you go, Aydin. There’s your last baby, mister,” the California woman said. She added in the TikTok’s description, “We miss you, Aydin, but not a day will go by that we don’t involve you in everything we do.”

Reactions

Many viewers reacted to the clip with compassion, expressing feeling emotional about Aydin’s involvement during his son’s birth. One commented, “May the warmth of his [Aydin’s] wings embrace all of you every time he is thought of.” Another one said, “Beautiful and sweet. Stay strong, momma! So proud of you from afar.”

Some thought the nurse’s “appropriate” comment was rude. One wrote, “Ummm, that was so gross for the nurse to say.” Another one added, “The nurse didn’t have to say that smh.”

The mallard-shaped urn also appears to carry special meaning for the family. In the GoFundMe, Autumn wrote, “Fly high up there with those mallards for us, baby, until we meet again.”
