Kendra Wilkinson built an entire celebrity career around being blonde, thin and sexy at the Playboy Mansion. At 41, the California reality star says she has no interest in chasing that version of herself anymore.
Wilkinson fired back at renewed criticism surrounding her body and aging with a blunt Instagram post declaring that the beauty standard that once defined her public image is now near the bottom of her priorities.
“Sexy is the last thing I want to be nowadays,” the former Girls Next Door star wrote. Instead, she said she is chasing peace, happiness, success and her faith.
Wilkinson acknowledged seeing strangers “poking” at her appearance but insisted she has reached a point where the negativity no longer controls how she sees herself.
Then came the line that drew a hard boundary between Kendra today and the Playboy Mansion bombshell millions remember.
“I’m OK not being Playboy skinny anymore,” she wrote, adding that she no longer expects herself to resemble the “bleached blonde 21 yr old” she once was.
Kendra Wilkinson Fans Applaud Her for Letting Playboy Go
Supporters quickly flooded Wilkinson’s Instagram comments with encouragement, with many arguing that aging should not be treated like a celebrity failure.
“Aging is a gift that not all get,” one fan reminded her. “Embrace it; you are beautiful from within.”
Another wrote, “None of us look the same as we did in our 20s,” before urging Wilkinson to ignore anyone treating getting older like something shameful.
“Having this mentality is the biggest flex of all,” another supporter declared. “Being at peace is the best place to be.”
One commenter who said they had spent a decade living in Hollywood added that they could relate to Wilkinson’s message because “priorities do change.”
That shift has been increasingly visible in Wilkinson’s life.
She recently celebrated feeling “actual summer ready” while showing off the results of her medically supervised GLP-1 journey, but she has repeatedly made clear that extreme thinness is not the goal. Wilkinson says she measures progress through how she feels and how comfortably her clothes fit rather than obsessing over a number on the scale.
She has also started exercising again after roughly two years away from the gym and has been openly rebuilding her life around motherhood, real estate and a much different definition of success.
Wilkinson has faced criticism before for supposedly “aging poorly,” but her latest post suggests she is increasingly unwilling to measure 41-year-old Kendra against the woman who became famous in her early 20s.
Playboy once helped make Wilkinson famous by selling an image of perfection. Two decades later, she sounds far more interested in deciding what happiness looks like without asking anyone else for approval.
