A California homeowner got an unexpected surprise when police brought a K9 into his garage while searching for an alleged home intruder. The dog sniffed its way through the garage before suddenly stopping for an entirely different reason. Nature called, and a box of the homeowner’s belongings was apparently the closest option.
Reddit user Flea420 shared security footage of the awkward moment on r/mildlyinfuriating. The video appears to show the police dog searching the garage before stopping and urinating on items stored behind a toolbox. Asked what got hit, Flea420 explained it was “a box full of tools and motorcycle parts,” adding that it was “not really an issue.”
Reddit Roasts California K9’s Poorly Timed Bathroom Break
Redditors had plenty of fun with the police dog’s unexpected bathroom break, especially after watching it happen in the middle of what was supposed to be a serious search.
“He was planting evidence,” one commenter joked. Another suggested the K9 was simply “marking the areas he’s checked.”
Others turned the incident into an opportunity for police humor. “He’ll just get a slap on the paw, some paid time off, and sent to the K9 unit in another area,” one person joked.
Flea420 appeared to take the situation considerably better than some viewers might have. When asked what the dog had urinated on, the California homeowner explained that it was “a box full of tools and motorcycle parts,” before adding that it was “not really an issue.”
Another commenter pointed out that there probably wasn’t much the dog’s handler could have done once nature called. “It’s funny because it’s not my garage but what can you do?” they wrote, joking that the officer couldn’t exactly tell the K9 to search the property without needing a bathroom break.
Considering police were reportedly searching the home for an intruder, a little dog urine probably wasn’t the worst way the situation could have ended. Reddit still couldn’t resist the absurdity of watching a working police K9 stop mid-search to relieve itself. As one commenter put it, the dog was simply “marking the areas he’s checked.”
