California Rep. Ro Khanna shared a video on X outlining support for Medicare for All, free childcare, and a national economic project he called “America’s next New Deal,” while stating that Democrats who lost two elections to Trump lack standing to call such ideas too radical. The post, which also declared a preference for the “working class over Epstein class,” quickly drew widespread replies accusing him of hypocrisy regarding his own wealth and mocking the proposals as overly radical.

Those who lost two elections to Trump have no standing to tell the next generation of Democrats that their ideas are too radical.

In the clip, Khanna stands at a podium bearing a Democratic Party logo, flanked by American flags, and addresses an audience. He states that “those who have lost two elections to Trump are no experts on electability and have no standing to tell a new generation of Democrats that their ideas for justice are too radical.”

He continues, “We are for the working class over the Epstein class,” and declares, “Our vision for this party is to deliver America’s next New Deal,” which he says means “Medicare for All” with “no more excuses, no more half measures, free, universal health care for every American,” along with free childcare and a national economic project to create good jobs.

The footage is from remarks Khanna delivered on August 15, 2026, at the Summer 2026 DNC Meeting in Austin. The accompanying post text repeats the key lines from the speech. The video does not show the full address or audience reactions.

Responses to the Call for America’s Next New Deal

Several users mocked the proposals as extreme, with one widely liked reply stating, “Sorry Ro, you’re not gonna round up the Kulaks for the Gulag.”

Others focused on accusations of hypocrisy over personal wealth, writing that “Ro Khanna is part of the Epstein class” and calling him a “hypocritical multi-millionaire champagne socialist.”

Additional critics questioned the Democratic Party’s record, asking whether he was “speaking from the DNC headquarters, which needed to be mortgaged due to mismanagement and excessive spending” and arguing the agenda would not deliver the results claimed.

The remarks have joined the broader conversation about the Democratic Party’s path forward after recent election losses. Online discussion continues to focus on questions of policy ambition, electability, and consistency.
