One of the main reasons some have a strong distaste for TikTok isn’t just the overload of cringey content; it’s the ridiculous and outlandish trends. And for one California Navy veteran, the TikTok challenge he had to deal with wasn’t simply annoying, but infuriating. It happened on a Friday night at 3 AM, when what appeared to be a teenager waltzed up to the man’s front door and executed a donkey kick to the screen door before dashing off. And the aftermath wasn’t just a shoe mark or some dirt on the door; it was hundreds of dollars’ worth of repairs.
On Reddit, the California resident posted a video of the incident recorded by a security camera. OP says that he was in a turkey coma at the time, so it would have been impossible for him to wake up, let alone react properly to the kid who dashed off after committing vandalism. While it would have been nice to identify the culprit and have him or his parents pay for repairs, his hood covered his face too well to do anything about it.
“I guess its a Tik Tok challenge. $300 to replace my security door,” the veteran sighed, knowing he couldn’t have done anything else about the situation. One person suggested the screen door was an easy DIY fix, but the homeowner explained that buying the hardware, doing the labor work, and procuring all the minor materials would be way too much trouble. “So instead, I went to Lowe’s and bought the same door and new door handles,” he explained.
As for whether or not this troublemaker’s action was truly a TikTok challenge, someone clarified that it most definitely is: “It’s a TikTok trend. I’ve seen multiple videos of young people doing this and it’s really, really stupid and dangerous because a teenager was shot and killed doing this ‘prank’.” Fortunately, no one was injured or killed during this prank, but it’s still very upsetting to know that someone who did $300 in damages to someone’s home for a “prank” is running about without any consequences.
