Donald Trump’s re-election has sparked a massive influx of online hate speech. Unfortunately, much of this bleeds into real-world incidents that target minority communities. In one particular situation in California, a man decided to harass a Chinese-American citizen just because he assumed he wasn’t from this country.
To make matters infinitely worse, the racist gentleman was driving a can with ‘Trump’ and ‘MAGA’ spray-painted all over it. This trend underscores the impact that harsh political rhetoric can have on the attitudes and behavior of the public.
In California, a man was videoed at a gas station being racist to another gentleman simply because he looked Chinese. It happened before the recording started, but the man told the other gentleman to “go back to China.” Everyone in the area very quickly came to the defense of the Chinese man, including an employee who instructed the racist man to leave, telling him that security had already been called.
“And like the coward that they all are he drives away. Loser coward.”
Fortunately, the racist man didn’t try to double down or anything. Instead, he got into his strangely vandalized car and drove away. The rise in hostility due to people like him has translated into tangible harm, and people must be very careful. What’s even more interesting is that those who support Trump always seem to know exactly what they’re doing, despite being the first to cry victim whenever things don’t work out in their favor.
Fortunately, the racist man left before anyone was injured or worse. However, it’s become clear that Trump’s rhetoric has far-reaching implications that flourish both online and offline. There are simply not enough policymakers on the side of the people to stop or even slow down the number of people who believe they can wield the law and use it however they see fit.
“The absolute look of astonishment on his face it’s what’s making me the most mad. Like he couldn’t comprehend that dude could not only speak English, but was also a citizen who was about to kick his a**.”
This isn’t the last time we’ll see people trying to do something in the name of Donald Trump, and it certainly won’t be the last. However, until genuine legal action is taken against these people, we will continue to see incidents like this happen more and more frequently.
