There have been various stories circulating on the internet about different airlines and how they treat passengers whom they’ve wronged. Every story is different, but they never fail to surprise me with how quickly airlines dismiss problems by offering customers low lump sums. A woman from California made a TikTok video claiming that Southwest Airlines peed on both her guitar and her dead mother’s ashes several months ago, and she still doesn’t have an update on what the airline plans to do. Fortunately, her followers are willing to go the extra mile to try and assist her however they can.
The above video was posted by an account named @golddiggersally, who infrequently posts about creating music and art in various forms in California. She had posted a video last year saying that Southwest Airlines had urinated on her belongings and that she had been in back-and-forth conversations with them about it. Now, that back-and-forth is still going on, but has officially turned into complete negligence on the airline’s part.
In the above video, Sally states that a thorough investigation had been underway until finally, the airline decided to make her an offer for the cost of the guitar. Because of how ridiculous that sounded, Sally asked for the ticket to be refunded instead.
However, according to the woman she had spoken with, the original offer had to be removed first, and a new offer needed to be implemented. She asked that the offer not be accepted until that happened. Unfortunately, there is a time limit for these offers, and if it isn’t accepted before the deadline, then it completely goes away.
The Southwest Airlines associate Sally had been speaking with her, but never ended up making the change, despite the latter reaching out to her at least two times a week leading up to the date. Now, the offer is officially gone, and Sally can only go online to ask her 29,000 followers to tag Southwest Airlines, message them, and do everything possible to raise awareness of the situation. One comment in particular even says, “Girl. Attorney. ASAP. This is wild.“
Unfortunately, according to Sally herself, desecration of human remains is not a felony, as she had already gone to the police to see if she could pursue that route. In response to a comment concerning that, she says, “Unfortunately, believe it or not, itโs not criminal. I did in fact go to the police.“
This video has been reposted by other large TikTok accounts, including @TizzyEnt, who is well-known for bringing attention to public issues just like these. I really hope that the situation can be resolved soon, because over a year of these deliberations has to be difficult for her.
