California Woman Gets ‘Karened’ by Neighbor Over 12-Foot Skeleton in Front Yard: ‘Peak Pettiness’

Gotta love the pettiness.

A woman in Sacramento, California, has a 12-foot skeleton in her front yard, more than a month after Halloween. Apparently, this is unacceptable to her neighbor, and she got “Karened” and guilt-tripped by her, who said she was “disappointed.”

The bizarre story was shared by TikTok user smut-tay (Tay). She explained that her neighbor, whose real name is actually Karen, approached her husband and said that she is “disappointed” in them because their 12-foot skeleton was still up.

“Ironically, we were going to take that skeleton down today,” Tay explained, emphasizing the outrageous tone Karen had in her “disappointing” speech. “The audacity!” she added.

According to the TikToker, there’s no HOA in the neighborhood, and there are no rules that prohibit her from having her 12-foot skeleton in her front yard. Moreover, no other neighbors have complained about it. And now, it appears that the decoration is not going anywhere anytime soon.

“If she had come up to us and asked or said hi, probably would have agreed with her and done it today,” Tay added. “That’s not gonna happen. I could be the bigger person; I could just let it go. I could take the skeleton down. But where’s the fun in that?“

Given Karen’s intrusion, Tay decided that, instead of taking the skeleton down, she would decorate it further with a Santa hat and rainbow string lights.

“If she has any comments about the new Santa skeleton, I will add another one,” Tay decided. “He might be up all year. Listen, I don’t want tension with my neighbors, I don’t want drama. But I also love to be petty.”

In a follow-up post, Tay shared that the skeleton’s Santa hat was on the way, and she also shared a clip of her buying decorations for the Skeleton.

Skeleton Pettiness, Reactions

Overwhelmingly, users flocked in support of Tay, her 12-foot skeleton, and her pettiness.

“Keep it up all year and decorate for each holiday definitely!!! That is peak pettiness, and I love it,” one user commented. Another one said, “Sounds like you have a new permanent decoration to me.” A third one said, “See, that would activate my petty side too and would be dressing skelly for all the holidays now.”

It appears that Tay’s California front yard is slowly becoming The Nightmare Before Christmas. By the looks of it, the internet is loving every minute of it.
