A California woman is sharing a terrifying experience after an impacted wisdom tooth removal left her in critical condition within 24 hours. She had one impacted wisdom tooth removed on a Monday and initially thought the swelling on one side of her face was a normal part of recovery. Within a day, however, the swelling had become severe enough to affect her breathing and swallowing.
The story was shared on the woman’s TikTok account, @lifewithsarbear, under the username Sar Bear. The post drew several hundred thousand views, with viewers expressing concern over how quickly her condition worsened and sharing their own experiences with serious dental complications.
The California woman’s photos showed the swelling becoming increasingly severe throughout the day after the procedure. By the following morning, she was struggling to swallow and noticed that the swelling continued to increase despite taking medication. She contacted her dentist, who prescribed an antibiotic and told her to go to the emergency room if her condition became worse.
After she shared photos and videos of her face on Instagram, friends and followers also urged her to seek medical attention. Her dentist eventually instructed her to go to the ER, where she said she became increasingly panicked as the swelling began affecting her airway.
At the hospital, she was quickly triaged and determined to be in critical condition. Doctors gave her four antibiotics through an IV, along with a steroid, and performed a CT scan. She also received additional pain medication and was evaluated by an ENT surgeon.
Her condition improved significantly within 48 hours. One week later, she still had some swelling but was continuing antibiotics and recovering well. The experience left her shocked by how quickly what initially appeared to be routine swelling after dental surgery turned into a serious medical emergency.
California Woman’s Ordeal Triggers Horror Stories
The story also triggered strong reactions from viewers, with some criticizing the dental care she received and others questioning why she had not gone to the ER sooner.
“You can report your dentist to the state board. It’s standard to prescribe antibiotics immediately after any tooth removal because it is an open wound. This is malpractice and you need to get some money! He could’ve killed you! You could’ve gotten septic and died in your sleep all because of his negligence,” one user wrote.
Others were shocked by the amount of swelling after a single tooth was removed. Some compared the experience with their own wisdom tooth procedures, including one person who had all four impacted wisdom teeth removed without experiencing similar swelling.
Despite the criticism and frightening stories, many viewers were relieved to see that the California woman was recovering after receiving emergency treatment.
