A California woman seemingly had enough when she saw a group of protesters using their religion to talk women out of receiving services at the nearby Planned Parenthood. The surprising part was seeing that the entire group of protesters consisted of nothing by elderly Christian men.
Posted by TikTok user __sillyyy__ she is seen engaging with the old men, several of whom were holding anti-abortion signs. All of the signs depicted Christian iconography, such as ‘Blessed Mother, please stop Planned Parenthood’ and ‘Lord, forgive us and our nation.’ When prompted, the men tell Silly they’re praying. She asks what for, to which they respond with “for life.”
Silly asks them if they’re aware of the fact that people receive services other than just abortion at Planned Parenthood. They nod and say, “Yeah.” So, she tells them, “Maybe you should just volunteer at your church, where people are actually looking for your help, because you guys are here harassing people.”
At this point, the men try to speak over her and question why she’s speaking this way to them. But she continues with, “You have no right to talk about women’s reproductive health.” The man at the front of the crowd tries to tell her that he has four adopted children, and she asks, “So what? You have NO RIGHT to be out here harassing people.”
Silly takes their religious propaganda and throws it back into their faces. She tells them, “I have my own relationship with Jesus. And guess what? He would not want you out here judging people. Because what makes you better than anyone else?” She continues with, “It is between them and God.”
One of the men stutters and eventually mutters, “We’re just offering help.” But she doesn’t want to hear it, telling all of them to “get hobbies.” She tells them they should be volunteering at their churches, where people actually need their assistance.
The old men draw ire and ridicule online
Not only did Silly see support online, but her video also drew a lot of outrage towards the old men and their toxic behavior. Many comments shamed the men for using their religion for evil. “One fart away from death,” wrote a TikTok user, receiving thousands of Likes on TikTok.
Another commenter pointed out their hypocrisy, saying, “But won’t take care of the babies already born.”
When Silly had suggested the men volunteer at their church to help others, one of the men said no. A commenter caught that, saying, “So its not about helping people. its about “shaming” others for their own self gratification.”
Silly’s TikTok video continues to see support online, with many feeling a great deal of ick from men who act this way. It’s made even worse by the fact that they hid behind their signs as a way to justify their hatred.
