The gender gap and its divides are crucial to understanding where we’re at politically in the world. A recent poll taken by NBC showed that young men and women have vastly different views when it comes to mental health, cultures, and gender issues that appear in the workplace. As one speaker in California says, “This poll is yet another example of the largest political values gap we have ever seen between the two genders in this country.”
Cheyenne Hunt (@cheyennehuntca) says that people continue saying that we could be headed toward a civil war. She said, if that happens, she thinks it would be due to “the gap between young men and young women.” She shows NBC’s poll, which shows men and women’s “personal definition of success” based on several factors.
Would you be surprised to find that young men who voted for Trump put “having children” at the top of their priority lists, while they put “having emotional stability” all the way at the bottom? Also, at the top of their list includes financial independence, fulfilling careers, and being married. However, it’s totally different when you look at the priorities of women who voted for Harris. They put things like fulfilling careers and having emotional stability at the top of their list. It’s clear that mental health and job stability means a lot to them. Meanwhile, at the bottom includes having children and being married. The priorities are completely different and it’s alarming what really matters to people.
Cheyenne said it’s an alarming truth about emotional stability for men. She said, “Frankly, I think this explains a lot about today’s society.” It’s not surprising to see men who follow “traditional values” and voted for Trump. It would make sense that they’d want to be married to a woman (sometimes submissive ones) and have a couple of children. Women who voted for Harris, though, are typically seen as independent women. They appreciate that women have fought for their rights to work and be the women they choose to be in today’s society.
Cheyenne asks, “How would this get us to a civil war?” She then explains, “Societies that have crashing birth rates and low partnership rates end up with higher instances of civil unrest.” It shows that men and women are no longer on the same page and working together. On top of this, women have been feeling forced to change their values due to conservatives in charge. Cheyenne says, “Keep your eyes on this generation of conservative young men. I don’t see them being denied marriage and children without a fight.” She’s probably right.
One commenter replied to Cheyenne’s post, “Emotional stability being last while having children being first is the most insane thing I’ve ever seen.” Another commenter said, “Reason #291937582929 that I left a red state back to live in CA to protect my daughters.” The fact that we need to make these rash decisions says a lot about the world. But every person is out to protect themselves and live life as they see fit.
