A California woman shows that kindness is still in so many people’s hearts. She found out that a man was living in his car in her area and decided she was going to take generosity and caring for your neighbors to the next level.
Moriah (@moriahmagdalena) shared a TikTok video after she discovered that a young man was living in his car on her street. Moriah instantly introduced herself to the man and offered to cook for him. In her video, you see her pouring water out of a bowl of rice and mixing ingredients as she explains it was 11:30 p.m. when she spoke with the man. She told him she would make him something to eat with ingredients she already had in her home.
The young man told Moriah that he worked late at night so she only had 30 minutes to make him something to eat. She was able to whip something up for him before he went to his graveyard shift. As Moriah states in her video, “I know times are tough for many people, especially in our country. Many people are a missed paycheck away from not having a home.” That’s why Moriah thought it was especially important to lend a helping hand where she was able to.
Moriah cooks some meat in a pan while she explains to her audience that “financial struggle is not a reflection of someone’s worth.” She reminds everybody watching her videos that ending up without a home or living in your car can happen to anyone, at any time. The way that she handles life personally is lending a helping hand whenever there is an opportunity to do so.
At the end of Moriah’s video, she explains that she made the man a burger bowl. She used organic beef, egg, white rice, and a special sauce that she keeps on hand in her kitchen. Moriah smiles and shows the meal, saying “it takes a village.” She also shared an apple, granola bar, and crackers with him.
Commenters shared that Moriah is the sweetest and so humble about what she does for others. As one commenter stated, “THANK YOU for not putting a camera in his face and being kind.” Another commenter mentioned, “That’s someone’s baby you’re feeding.”
This video drew widespread attention due to the fact that a stranger took time out of their day to show kindness to someone struggling. One commenter shared from their own personal life, “You’re absolutely right it can happen to anyone. It happened to me, my husband, and mom 4 months ago. Things are better now.”
Moriah and other kindhearted TikTokers continue to share hope with a world that sometimes feels overwhelming to many. She, and so many others, share what it means to be a community even in a large California city.
