Some people haven’t grown up in areas where wild animals are common to see, and it really shows, especially in the case of @Mishelleybabey on TikTok, who recorded her whole encounter with some hilarious commentary. She was out walking her dog Helga and found a coyote by itself, and rather than being scared, she started to talk to it and even got after Helga for being protective of her.
It’s clear the TikToker had no clue what she was supposed to do as she started out the video with “It’s like, should I be leaving right now? Is he gonna attack Helga?” Though, she quickly squashed that thought by considering how big her dog really is. However, a few seconds into the video, the coyote starts exhibiting what thousands of comments are saying is luring behavior, and Mishelleybabey seems to think the wild animal only wants to play.
“Helga, you made a friend. This is your friend, say hello. Look, it’s a dope coyote. H*ll yeah, I f*ck with it!”
The whole time, the coyote inches closer until Helga gets uncomfortable with the lack of distance between them and lunges toward the coyote with her owner saying “Helga, be nice. He’s a nice coyote.”
Other TikTokers in her comments sure seem to have a whole lot to say about the situation. “Helga needs a raise after this..” says one commenter, while loads of others explain that the coyote was trying to lure Helga. “Helga knew what was up. Coyotes lure larger dogs with play time into an ambush and then a group of like 6 will jump the dog. you got very lucky here. Good on Helga for being the beast she clearly is.”
Others made light of the humor in the situation, commenting things like “Helga needs to be the emergency contact” and “Someone needed to be the adult in this situation and Helga stepped up.”
