With the cost of living going up, health care doing poorly, and the general happiness of U.S. citizens at a downturn, the Trump Administration has been attacking Iran. The news of the war has been moving at lightning speed, and an influencer in California makes it his job to keep tabs, especially on the administration. He does this alongside his sister, Gabby. And naturally, he has so much to say about what that means for its population and the effects it’ll have.
“So, the Trump Administration is starting to realize how badly they screwed up with Iran,” Anthony (TikTok/silentmiddlechild) says in his TikTok video. Trump’s statement that the “war is very complete” speaks volumes. He wants it to be over bad, but Anthony isn’t bought on by the idea the war is over. But if it were, Anthony doesn’t think it adds up, anyway, and explains why in stunning detail.
Although Iran’s nuclear program was the closest “excuse” the U.S. could give for the attack, Anthony doesn’t agree with this framing, however. Iran’s “nuclear sites” had already been bombed by the U.S. in 2025. To come back from that would entail a high cost in resources. And even if Trump did want Iran’s uranium, which he’s shown interest in, this would “require putting troops on the ground.” Furthermore, you’d need equipment to reach uranium under rubble.
One of the worst aspects of the Trump Administration’s attack is that it’s self-inflicted. The new supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, has had several family members killed in the U.S’s attempt to kill senior leaders. To this, Anthony notes that Mojtaba has a reputation for being a “bigger extremist” than his father. Coupled with the death of Mojtaba’s father, wife, and son, Anthony states that the U.S. has “given him several very personal reasons to hate us.”
And what does the war with Iran get us? According to journalist Nancy Youssef, it’s “$1 billion per day.” as originally reported by The Daily Beast. Anthony notes the same, but also mentions “1,200 Iranian civilians and seven U.S. service members.” But that’s just the start—Southwest Asia would be feeling the effects “for years to come,” says Anthony. And then there is the possibility of Iran “activating sleeper cells,” which Anthony argues is just the kind of thing a “tyrant” needs to “cancel elections.”
How People Reacted to Anthony’s Breakdown of Current Events
What was most telling about the comment section of Anthony’s video was how angry and unsurprised people were. Many have very little respect or faith in their politicians. They have open contempt for the ones responsible.
“Funny thing is that predictive history guy predicted all of this like months ago lol,” one commenter wrote.
Another person commented on the cost of the war, “$1B per day?!?! But we can’t offer affordable healthcare, college or housing? Cool cool.”
“Every time Anthony makes his own video you KNOW it’s serious.” Normally, Anthony is accompanied by his sister, Gabby. She’s usually the one to ask him about current events.
“I just wanted universal healthcare and student loan forgiveness.” Why is it too much to ask for tax dollars to be spent on helping people?
